I work in the downtown core and there is a Mac’s store right across the street from my office. I am notorious for having 1-2 cups of Seattle’s Best Coffee a day during my work week and I am starting to feel guilty about the amount of waste I create. The first thought that came to mind was to recycle the cups. However, after asking around I found out that without appropriate recycling facilities in any given city it is difficult to recycle used take away coffee cups. Then I thought that rather than trying to deal with the waste from my coffee cravings I should not make it at all. One thing that Mac’s could do for the environment is to offer a reusable coffee mug program. It would encourage regular customers, like me, to bring their own mug to satisfy their daily coffee fix and curb the waste.
