Look the Best, Drink the Best for Back to School!

Greetings, students! Hopefully you’ve had fun these first few weeks back in the classroom swapping summer stories with all your pals! We had quite the summer here at Mac’s – why don’t we tell you about it?

The Mac’s 50th Anniversary Community Celebration Tour enjoyed tremendous success, as we gave away thousands of dollars in donations to various local community charities. The Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Saskatoon Froster Street Teams were in full swing, offering free Froster samples at tons of summer’s hottest events! We also introduced a tasty new Froster flavour, Blood Orange, and we made the most of our summer by offering hot deals on all your Mac’s favourites! Finally, we wrapped up the summer with a contest of epic proportions. The Zombie High: The Back 2 School Contest may be over, but between you and me, I don’t think that’s the last we’ll see of those brain-crazy Zombie teachers… stay tuned for the Zombie Game coming early 2013!

The bad news is that summer is over, but the good news is that the fun doesn’t have to stop here! A brand new school year calls for new pencils, binders, backpacks, lunch bags, and of course, a whole new wardrobe. That’s where the Look the Best, Drink the Best Contest comes in!

From September 17th to October 14th, anytime you spend over $5 at Mac’s you can enter the Look the Best, Drink the Best Contest to win gift cards to all your favourite back to school shopping destinations, like Gap and Old Navy! We are giving away $10,000 in prizes, so enter while you can using the contest code on your receipt at MyMacs.ca. And while you’re at it, why not see if Mom and Dad would like to pop in to Mac’s on the way to school to enjoy a small 12 oz. Seattle’s Best Coffee® beverage for only 50¢?

Best of luck in the contest!

Summer to Fall

Grab your textbooks and sharpen those pencils — it’s back to school time!

September brings about some mixed feelings, doesn’t it? Yes, it’s sad to stow away the shorts and sandals as we bid farewell to summer. But on the other hand, a brand new school year with all of its exciting opportunities and experiences awaits you! Not to mention you can finally swap fantastic summer stories with all your buddies in class!

Speaking of summer stories, why don’t we tell you ours? We have been very busy these last few months here at Mac’s. The 50th Anniversary Community Celebration Tour was a huge success, as we gave away thousands of dollars in donations to various local community charities. The Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Saskatoon Froster Street Teams were in full swing, offering free Froster samples at tons of summer’s hottest events! We also introduced a new delicious Froster flavour, Blood Orange — if you haven’t tried this yet, you’re missing out! And of course we made the most of our summer by offering hot deals on all your Mac’s favourites!

Last but not least, we capped off the summer with a contest of epic proportions. Ever get the feeling your teachers are secretly zombies? Yeah, we thought so too, and we’re here to help. Welcome to Zombie High: The Back 2 School Contest! Until September 16th, spend $5 or more at any Mac’s and enter the contest code found on your receipt at MyMacs.ca to win cool school-worthy prizes! And stay tuned for our Look the Best, Drink the Best Contest starting September 17th for your chance to win gift cards to all the best back-to-school clothing stores!

Wishing you a fun, productive kick-off to the school year — and hoping your Zombie teachers spend their time molding young minds, rather than eating them!

Happy learning!

Over the years, through working so closely with people I have developed a very adaptable personality. I can cope with most situations on the fly, and have a wide range of other activities on the go!
Through the local shows I have put on and am now running my own art studio/jam space I have to deal with fast-paced situations: ensure the bands/artists are actually coming, the hall is booked, the sound guy is on time, putting up posters(and creating them!), chase after the people who ran through the door, and all the other fun things you get to deal with. But when all is said and done, there is nothing that puts a smile to my face faster than to see people happy and dancing, and in this particular case with a froster in-hand! In addition to running my own music/art studio I have planned and hosted local community markets, and as I have said before put on a variety of local all-ages shows!
This job will give me first hand experience that will pertain to my near-future career! As well as help me save up for the schooling I need to receive before getting said-job! I will soon be going in for Web Design and Interactive Media at the Art Institute of Vancouver. In saying that, I have had years of experience with blogging(computers in general), photography, video/audio, etc!
If you pick me you won't be disappointed!

Peace and love,

Jenna, yea!

I drink Frosters more often than I drink water. That’s the secret to my boundless energy and outgoing personality. I’d be perfect for this job!

Besides looking sweet in a rad car, I’ve got the brains and the personality to attract attention my way! I’ve been a competitive dancer ever since I tap-danced my way out of the womb. Needless to say, I’m not afraid of crowds or challenges (and trust me, tap dancing out of there is a challenge).

Edmonton is where I was born and raised and I’m proud of it. My city is called ‘festival city’ for a reason: we know how to party! There is so much action in Edmonton throughout the summer and I’d love to use this opportunity to get right at the heart of it, slurping my way through the summer fun.

I’m no stranger to the events in Edmonton. I’ve been a City of Edmonton Volunteer for years, aiding in the annual Coronation Triathlon, Heritage Days, Capital City Clean-Up, and countless other events. I’m also the vice-president of Rotex, an organization that promotes international exchanges to Edmonton youth. Plus, I’ve been on a year-long international exchange on which I’ve learnt the value of keeping an open mind, being accepting of everyone, and making the most out of every opportunity.

I want this! Pick me.

A job opportunity this perfect deserves nothing less than an applicant that will deliver the ultimate, fun-filled Froster experience. You’ve offered more than just a regular summer job and I want to offer you more than just regular employment. My experience is applicable to all ages and target markets, especially the younger population. This won’t be my first summer traveling this gorgeous city providing the ultimate brand experience at the hottest locations. From Black Diamond Cheese Strings “NBA 3 on 3” to Nintendo at Edmonton’s very own Capital Ex festival, I’ve done it all.  I have experienced all the summer action Edmonton has to offer and won’t find it hard to promote at the hot spots I know so well. It’s easy to tell that I love promotional work because you’ll find me on the scene chatting up potential customers with a huge smile on my face and samples in my hand. Throughout my promotional experience, I feel that I’ve been able to make a positive impact on each individual consumer and in turn, the brand I represent.

I am a business student who loves socializing and interacting with others. People describe me as outgoing, positive and enthusiastic with a passion for achieving my goals. My positive attitude radiates and I would love the opportunity to unleash my potential this summer for Mac’s Frosters. Personally, this cool treat has a lot of significance – I am one of the many Edmontonians who grew up with a Mac’s around the corner and I know the popularity and symbolism of their Frosters., especially during the summer.

This summer you can trust me to bring the Froster brand to life, and I promise Mac’s and my fellow summer-loving Edmontonians out there won’t be disappointed!

Newest Member of Edmonton's Froster Street Team - Positive Thinking!

This summer, pick a hard-working, spirited  Edmontonian who is reliable, independent and in the know. I am a 3rd year Business student with four qualities that make me the perfect candidate for your Froster Street Team – my management and marketing experience, my love of Mac’s frosters, my contagious positive attitude, and my knowledge of the city.

I am an honours university student majoring in marketing but I’ll leave it to my resume to bore you with educational details! I have the personality you are looking for in a promo rep – I am always smiling, have boundless enthusiasm and am the life of the party! However, I am easily approachable, genuine and comfortable interacting with all population segments.

I have assumed leadership roles and worked diligently and enthusiastically on several experiential marketing campaigns in the past including the Nestea City Chase, TD Pump it Up, the Axe Summer Gig, and the NBA 3 on 3. My experience managing Edmonton MLA Dave Hancock’s constituency office last summer demonstrates my trustworthiness, self-discipline and organizational ability. But this summer, I want to break out of the office and do something exciting - pursue my passion for marketing!

The one thing I love about Mac’s besides your delicious Frosters is that you are customer-driven. How else would every second street corner be ablaze with your symbol? My positive attitude and innate knack for socializing will create the meaningful customer interaction that Mac’s is looking for. I guarantee that people will walk away with more than just the ultimate summer treat in their hand – they will walk away with a smile and an exciting, lasting image of Mac’s brand in their minds. How will I do this? My personality, hard work ethic and commitment to the brand. I will strive to make Mac’s Frosters a symbol of the excitement  and vivacity of summer months one consumer at a time.

Edmonton is known as Canada’s Festival City for a reason! Our city, in the heart of the North Saskatchewan river valley, comes to life in the summer, beaming with the vibrancy of our summer concerts, festivals, fundraisers and cultural events. I know my home town backwards and you can rely on me to hop in that convertible and take your message into the heart of the excitement in summer 2010! Vroom vroom.
