It was 1981 and my mom let me walk to Mac's with my friends. I remember my mom only ever giving me 1 dollar (paper dollar too) and I would be able to buy 1 drink and 1 chocolate bar. I was so excited and when I got to Mac's I knew I would buy a can of pop, usually a JOLT but often struggled between a chocolate bar or a bag of chips. I would usually end up dumping the can of pop because I could never drink it all. When I would be walking home with my friend I remember thinking that one day I will not be able to buy a chocolate bar for 1 dollar and if that day ever came I would stop buying chocolate bars. That day is here and I still take my own children to Mac's for treats and tell them this same story....they usually respond with..."yaya mom, we know..when you were a kid you could buy a chocolate bar AND a can of pop for a DOLLAR!" I stopped telling my favorite kid story....until this contest!! :)
